SKINTRACE is an AI-powered handheld skin scanner designed for early melanoma detection. The project uses Edge Impulse and TinyML image classification to analyse skin lesions locally on a low-power device, giving users immediate visual feedback through an OLED screen. The design shifted from a wearable concept to a handheld form to improve image quality, scanning flexibility, and usability. It combines a camera module, magnetic charging stand, sleep/wake modes, recycled aluminium casing, and a familiar beauty-device form to make skin monitoring more accessible, sustainable, and easy to use.
